4. David Montgomery goes wild

We finally get to see the Chicago Bears’ new-look running game. With Davis, Montgomery, Tarik Cohen, and Kerrith Whyte, the team has an athletic, tackle-breaking, and good pass-catching unit. They’ll even have wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson play some in the backfield.

This unit can affect the game on the ground and in the air. They can all run good routes and have good hands. They’ll be dangerous catching passes from the backfield.

Montgomery looks to introduce himself to the NFL. He led college football in broken tackles the last two seasons. He has incredible balance and can create space with just one cut. He showed some of that ability during camp when he took a small town full of defenders along for a ride. That was after he juked some of the other ones.

He also flashed that ability in his first game. He had three carries and three catches but they were all flashy. When he took his first carry, he juked and broke away from defenders and had it not been for the fact that he needed a block from quarterback Chase Daniel, he would’ve gotten a huge gain. In any case, he did the same thing near the goal line and went from his right to his left to score the touchdown.

It should be a treat watching every Montgomery touch of the ball. We’ll wait with breathless anticipation to see what special thing he comes up with next.

Prediction: 113 rushing yards, 56 receiving yards, 1 touchdown
