When it comes to the worst-case scenario for the Minnesota Vikings, a finish similar to what they finished a season ago around the .500 mark would cap off another disappointing season for the team and its fans.

One of the things that will feed into the amount of success Minnesota has throughout the course of the regular season will rely heavily on what type of teams the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears end up being this year and how tough they will be to face twice during the year.

Annually, the Vikings have struggled with facing both the Packers and Bears on the road, oftentimes splitting the two-game series with both squads after topping them when they come to Minnesota.

If Chicago returns to form and Green Bay takes a jump from a season ago, that could make things a lot tougher for Minnesota in terms of its road to the top of the NFC North and ultimately a return to the playoffs.

That, mixed with the Vikings tough road schedule, could make for another bumpy season for Minnesota throughout the regular season.

Another important thing for the Vikings will be getting off to a good start in the open few weeks of the season, as they host the Atlanta Falcons in the season opener before traveling to Green Bay in Week 2.

If Minnesota falls in those two games as listed above, it could be hard to bounce back to grab a double-digit win total that the previous slide touched on.

The Vikings are capable of being a dangerous team this year, but if they get off to a slower start and struggle on the road against tough opponents, we could very well see them float around that .500 mark when the regular season is all said and done.
