2019 NFL season: Final win-loss predictions before Week 1
NFC East
- Philadelphia Eagles: 11-5
- Dallas Cowboys: 9-7
- New York Giants: 4-12
- Washington Redskins: 3-13
We’re going to hear this plenty of times in the upcoming season. If Carson Wentz can stay healthy, the Philadelphia Eagles could make a run for the Super Bowl. He won’t have Foles behind him, but the front office acquired running back help — signing Jordan Howard and selecting Miles Sanders in the second round of April’s draft. With a strong offensive line, head coach Doug Pederson should have a prolific offense.
The Eagles defense has the talent to make timely stops. Derek Barnett, Fletcher Cox, Malik Jackson and Brandon Graham will have a solid year up front. Cornerbacks Sidney Jones and Avonte Maddox could take major developmental steps in prominent roles.
The Dallas Cowboys signed running back Ezekiel Elliott to a six-year, $90 million extension Wednesday — his presence gives this club a better chance at a winning season, but Dak Prescott isn’t the quarterback to lead his team to victory when opposing units load the box.
Wideout Amari Cooper will give the aerial attack a boost, but he can be hit or miss as a contributor. Last year, he registered 100-plus receiving yards in two games and fewer than 50 yards in four outings. We’ll find out if the 25-year-old can reach an elite level, but that requires Prescott to elevate his game as well.
The New York Giants and Washington Redskins will sink to the bottom of the NFC East. Both clubs have placeholder quarterbacks starting the year, Eli Manning and Case Keenum. We’ll probably see their successors, Daniel Jones and Dwayne Haskins, at some point in a lost season.
