Running Back Starts

Kerryon Johnson, Lions (Matchup: at Cardinals)

Kerryon Johnson is in prime position to be the first running back for the Lions in a long time to be truly fantasy football relevant for an entire season. With Theo Riddick out of the picture, Johnson is expected to not only lead in carries but be the main back in the passing game as well. He sits as an RB2 heading into the season with RB1 upside and it’s clear why with this matchup against Arizona.

Arizona stunk against the run last season, to the point where almost any back was a must-play against them. For Kerryon Johnson, this is his shot to prove that he is the bell-cow of the backfield and take it by the horns. Expect a top-15 day, easily, out of Johnson this Sunday.

Mark Ingram, Ravens (Matchup: at Dolphins)

There is a legitimate chance that no one in the NFL will run the ball more than the Baltimore Ravens this season. Because of that, this is the perfect opportunity for Mark Ingram to be an RB2 for your fantasy team and one of the absolute best starts of Week 1 when he takes on the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins are already all-in on tanking this season and their roster shows it. With their defense and offense both expected to be among the worst in the league, expect Ingram to dominate early and often this week as he should see north of 15 carries and maybe some looks through the air.
