Wide Receiver Starts

Chris Godwin, Buccaneers (Matchup: vs. 49ers)

Chris Godwin’s praises have been sung all offseason by his new head coach, Bruce Arians. That only means it is the perfect time to show why in the first game of the season. While Mike Evans has to deal with Richard Sherman, Godwin should see plenty of target from Jameis Winston on his way to a huge game against the 49ers, a game that could quietly become a shootout.

If you are not sold on Godwin just yet, remember that Arians claimed that he wouldn’t be surprised to see Godwin approach 100+ catches on the season. The hype is real, so buy in early and have him in your lineup this week.

Dede Westbrook, Jaguars (Matchup: vs. Chiefs)

In their first game together, it was apparent who Nick Foles’ favorite option would be on his new team. Dede Westbrook is primed for a big season, with a huge game in the works against Kansas City. When it comes to fantasy football, touches are key and it’s fair to expect Westbrook to get a large amount with Foles.

In this matchup with the Chiefs, it is going to be a slugfest when the best offense from a year ago faces a defense that underperformed last year but is out to make a statement this year. Foles will have to keep up with Mahomes and company to keep the Jags in this game, leading to Westbrook being a no-brainer start this week.
