In 2017, the Jacksonville Jaguars showed that they could bounce back from a horrific season. One year earlier, the club won three games and was dead last in the division. But thanks to a big-play defense and an efficient running attack, the club improved to 10-6 and won the AFC South. The team played turnover-free football in three playoff games and came up one victory short of an appearance in Super Bowl LII.

But it all came apart in 2018. Interesting enough, the Jaguars were the only team to knock off the surging Colts in that club’s final 10 outings. Marrone’s squad blanked playoff-bound Indianapolis, 6-0, in Week 13 at Jacksonville. It was a reminder of what the team was capable of. But sadly, it was the only divisional victory for Doug Marrone’s squad this past season.

One year after sweeping the Houston Texans by a combined 74-14 score, the eventual AFC South champions returned the favor by beating Jacksonville twice by a 40-10 count. The Tennessee Titans continued their mastery over the Jaguars, sweeping Marrone’s team for the second straight year. And three weeks before the club shut out the Colts, Jacksonville fell at Indianapolis, 29-26.

If the Jaguars are to make a move up in the AFC South this season, they had better find a way to knock off their neighbors. And that may not be easy considering they were the only team in the division in 2018 to post a losing record.
