As the Minnesota Vikings host the Atlanta Falcons to open up the 2019 NFL season, here are three bold predictions for the Week 1 matchup.

The 2019 regular season is finally here for the Minnesota Vikings, and they will jump right into things on Sunday afternoon when the Atlanta Falcons come to town.

The Vikings will open up the season with a contest against the Falcons at noon Sunday at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis in what could be a potential NFC playoff preview later on in the year.

Minnesota enters the new season coming off of a disappointing 2018 campaign while finishing 8-7-1 and missing the postseason a year after it reached the NFC Championship Game against the eventual 2017 NFL Champions Philadelphia Eagles.

The Vikings finished second in the NFC North standings, trailing the Chicago Bears (12-4 overall) who took the NFC North title and reached the playoffs.

Atlanta comes into the 2019 season after putting together a 7-9 record a season ago, which resulted in it missing the playoffs for the first time after reaching the postseason the previous two years.

The Falcons ended up finishing tied with the Carolina Panthers (7-9) for second place out of four teams int he NFC South, trailing the New Orleans Saints (13-3) who won the NFC South title to grab a spot in the playoffs.

The two teams have plenty of potential, powered behind two attractive offensive units that can take over games and alone win games week-in and week-out. As long as they are able to put it all together when it all matters.

Before the Vikings and Falcons square off on Sunday in the season-opening contest in Minneapolis, let’s take a look at three bold predictions on Minnesota’s side of things before the game begins.
