The Cowboys defensive line is great on paper. In fact, it may be the most promising group they have had in Jason Garrett‘s career as head coach. Unfortunately, there are a couple of asterisks on the line.

One is the suspension of Robert Quinn, who will miss the first two games of the season. The second is the health of DeMarcus Lawrence, who had shoulder surgery in April. The talented edge rusher is ready to play and really enjoys going after Eli Manning, saying he’s ready to “treat him real nice.”

"“I’ve got some Snickers here for him when he comes to town,” Lawrence said via Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post. “Make sure we treat him real nice and right. He’s welcome here any time.’’"

Still, Lawrence may not be at 100 percent as he’s just getting back from the operation. That means they will be without one starter and another could be limited. It also appears former first-round pick Taco Charlton will be inactive

That means some of the others will need to step up and Kerry Hyder, Jr. is the one to watch. Hyder came over from the Detroit Lions in the offseason and continually showed up in the preseason.

He’s a solid edge rusher and the Cowboys are going to need him to show that in Week 1. Their line will be great when they’re at full health, but until then some of the role players will need to step up.
