New York Jets: 3 Exceptionally bold predictions for 2019 season
The New York Jets kick off their 2019 season against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Here are three very bold predictions for the upcoming campaign.
It’s almost time. The New York Jets kick off their 2019 NFL campaign this Sunday against the Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium. Gang Green is looking to rebound from a dismal 4-12 season last year and there is a great deal of optimism about this year’s contingent.
There is a new head coach (Adam Gase), sparkling new uniforms and a new attitude.
With that being said, it’s time to make some very bold predictions for the coming season. Here are three as Jets fans prepare for the season opener:
3. Jets win Super Bowl 54
You want very bold? Well, it doesn’t get any bolder than that. Gang Green is a longshot — a very longshot — to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy in Miami next February (60-1 odds). That goes without saying. However, they said the same thing back in 1969 (in Miami as well) and Joe Namath and company shocked the world as 18-point underdogs and captured Super Bowl III, 16-7 over the Baltimore Colts.
It can happen. First, there is good karma because the game is in Miami. More importantly though, the Jets should be a much improved squad this year. They finally have a bona fide superstar halfback in Le’Veon Bell and a young signal-caller in Sam Darnold who looks like the real deal.
Let’s face it though, all the stars have to be aligned for Gang Green to win it all this season. New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will have to either get injured or finally perform like a 42-year old. Bill Belichick will have to forget how to coach. The Chiefs, Saints, Eagles, et al will have to fall flat on their faces.
I know, I know. It seems impossible. But it did back in 1969 as well. Hey, it’s only been 50 years — half a century. Time to dream the impossible dream.
