Ezekiel Elliott is officially with the Dallas Cowboys now as they open the 2019 season by taking on the rival New York Giants in Week 1 at AT&T Stadium.

There was drama surrounding the Dallas Cowboys all offseason — at least until there wasn’t. The question of whether or not running back Ezekiel Elliott would sign a new deal and end his holdout before the regular season hung over this team. Now, with a lucrative extension inked, Elliott will be on the field at AT&T Stadium as the ‘Boys welcome the New York Giants for a rivalry matchup.

It remains to be seen how much Elliott will play in this matchup but the Cowboys offense should be fine. Not only does Dak Prescott have an impressive group of pass-catchers led by Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup but rookie running back Tony Pollard appears capable of spelling Elliott when the vet can’t go.

More important for Dallas, their defense is ready to play at an elite level. Leighton Vander Esch, Jaylon Smith, DeMarcus Lawrence and the whole crew broke out last season and may be even better now in the 2019 season.

Things are less optimistic for the Giants. There is little excitement about Eli Manning, especially with rookie Daniel Jones sitting behind him to begin the year. And though Saquon Barkley is an elite running back, the lack of an offensive line, great skill players and defensive talent leaves Big Blue in a pretty tough position to start the year.

Give me the Cowboys in this game against the spread and the moneyline. The Giants just don’t have the answers for Dallas at any point on the roster, even if Barkley is that good. The Over/Under is a bit hard to peg but I’m leaning towards the under, saying that Dallas gets a big lead early and then bleeds out the clock.

When it comes to the Cowboys and Giants, these two NFC East rivals always deliver entertainment for football fans. However, this could potentially be quite one-sided in NFL Week 1. The G-Men don’t have the horses to keep up in this matchup and, with this game in Arlington, America’s Team should come out strong and earn the win.
