Opening up the season with a tough matchup and potential NFC playoff opponent in the Atlanta Falcons, Minnesota gave its fans a lot to be happy with in a home game, coming away with a 28-12 victory.
The Vikings looked awfully impressive in the win, jumping out to an early 14-0 lead after the first quarter and led by as much as 28-0 after three frames in Minneapolis.
Minnesota’s defense, which has continued to be stellar year-after-year, was a highlight of the game while the Vikings owned the contest in basically all three phases of offense, defense and special teams.
With the win, the Vikings move into a tie atop the NFC North standings, starting the year off at 1-0 overall. Minnesota will travel to take on the Green Bay Packers next week in a divisional showdown at Lambeau Field consisting of two early-season unbeaten squads.
The loss pushes the Falcons into an early hole in the season, dropping to 0-1 while scheduled to take on another tough NFC opponent in Week 2 when the Philadelphia Eagles come into Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
