In the Atlanta Falcons loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday in the regular season opener, here were three standouts from the Week 1 contest.

The Atlanta Falcons began the 2019 NFL regular season schedule with a disappointing road performance against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon. While trying to march into US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis to face a tough Minnesota team on its home field in Week 1 of the year, Atlanta fell on the road while being shut down for the most part by a tough Vikings squad.

The Falcons, who were shut down by the Vikings defense for a majority of the contest, opened the regular season with a 28-12 loss on Sunday.

Minnesota looked awfully impressive in the win over Atlanta, forcing the Falcons into three turnovers while also blocking a punt early on in the first quarter. The Vikings shut out the Falcons through three quarters, leading 28-0 going into the fourth, before Atlanta tacked on 12 points on two touchdowns in the final frame.

Atlanta was out-matched in basically all three phases of offense, defense and special teams by Minnesota, going into Week 2 with a decent amount to work on to try and turn things around before next week’s game.

The loss pushes the Falcons into an early hole in the season, dropping to 0-1 while scheduled to take on another tough NFC opponent in Week 2, when the Philadelphia Eagles come into Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

With the win, the Vikings move into a tie atop the NFC North standings, starting the year off at 1-0 overall. Minnesota will travel to take on the Green Bay Packers next week in a divisional showdown at Lambeau Field consisting of two early-season unbeaten squads.

As Atlanta looks to get back on track to start the season after falling to Minnesota in the opening week of the regular season, let’s take a look at a few bright spots from the game with three standouts in the defeat.
