The New Orleans Saints’ Week 1 matchup against the Houston Texans allows them to set the pace but which players must step up in order to do that?

After months of waiting, the NFL is finally back. While most of the games will have taken place by the time the New Orleans Saints and Houston Texans hit the field, there is still a little bit of football left for the week.

As a Monday night game, this one is pretty exciting as the Saints are clear favorites to go to the Super Bowl in the NFC while the Texans are the leader in the AFC South.

Before getting into the players who will make all the difference, it’s important to look back at the last time the two teams met. The last time the two teams met in the regular season was 2015 and it was a terrible game for the Saints.

It ended with a score of 24-6 in the Texans favor. No doubt the Saints were in the midst of their terrible 7-9 slump but a lot of things have changed since 2015 for both teams.

For the Saints, they’ve grown a lot as a team and are now a force to be reckoned with. As for the Texans, they just lost one of their biggest playmakers on defense. It’s a tough blow and one that the Saints offensive line is going to take advantage of.

Looking at the Saints roster, there are three players who hold the key to victory and good performances by them will dictate that the game goes in the Saints’ favor.
