There’s been one playoff appearance for the Oakland Raiders since 2003. Can the Silver and Black get back on track this season?

As the Oakland Raiders prepare for their Monday night visit by the Denver Broncos, it’s been a rough week or so for head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock. Back in March, the team orchestrated a trade for seven-time Pro Bowler Antonio Brown.

The Raiders gave up a third- and fifth-round pick for the prolific wideout. Apparently it wasn’t meant to be as he was granted his release and just signed with the New England Patriots.

But Brown is no longer the concern for Gruden and the organization. Improving on a 4-12 finish from a year ago is priority number one. Quarterback Derek Carr is hoping to benefit from a number of free-agent additions this offseason, especially up front in the form of right tackle Trent Brown and guard Richie Incognito (suspended for the first two games of 2019).

There’s also former Chargers’ standout Tyrell Williams, who suddenly finds himself thrust into the role of the number-one wide receiver. Mayock and Gruden were even busier when it came to the other side of the ball (more on that later).

The bottom line is that this franchise has really fallen on hard times and no matter how many changes the team has made in terms of coaching and personnel, the Raiders have struggled to get it right. But 2019 means renewed hope for all teams.

So what numbers point to success or failure for the Silver and Black this season?
