NFL Week 2, 2019: 5 Coaches on the hot seat
By Dan Parzych
Here are five head coaches that should consider themselves on the hot seat for NFL Week 2 of the 2019 season.
If there were one thing to know about the 2019 season, it would be that it’s never too early to consider certain head coaches on the hot seat heading into NFL Week 2, because the pressure is arguably on more than ever.
Prior to last weekend, there were a handful of head coaches that were already considered to be on the hot seat as a result of what took place last season, especially if their team came up just shy of earning a trip to the playoffs.
Take a look at Mike Tomlin for example after the Pittsburgh Steelers head coach appeared to be in great position to watch his beloved team earn a trip to the playoffs last year before they ended up watching from home after coming up short.
To top the pressure off, the Steelers made the decision to move on from one of the league’s top receivers this offseason in Antonio Brown by trading the speedy wideout to the Oakland Raiders before he eventually joined the New England Patriots.
All of a sudden, Brown would be part of the one team the Steelers didn’t want to see him on the most, and even though the wideout wasn’t eligible to play against his former team in Week 1, New England still had little trouble taking down Pittsburgh.
Most likely, Tomlin and the Steelers will look much better in Week 2 with the Seattle Seahawks coming to town since Pittsburgh fans will be feeling extra fired up to help their team earn that first win of 2019.
But until then, Tomlin finds himself on the hot seat heading into Week 2, along with the rest of these candidates.
