4. Jay Gruden

First off, let the record show that Jay Gruden deserves some credit for the effort made by the Washington Redskins in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles since the team nearly pulled off what would have been a surprise upset.

Watching the Redskins come out firing against the Eagles in the first half only to watch it all slip away in the final two quarters was beyond frustrating for obvious reasons, but also shows this team may be better off than expected moving forward.

After dealing with quarterback injuries to Alex Smith and Colt McCoy last season, Washington decided to roll with Case Keenum for the 2019 season after things failed to work out for the veteran in 2018 with the Denver Broncos.

There were plenty of questions surrounding the Redskins, and whether they were making a mistake going with Keenum over Dwayne Haskins to start off the 2019 season, but Keenum’s performance against the Eagles makes it seem like he’s answer for now.

As for whether Keenum will be able to find a way to help Gruden get off the hot seat, well it will be interesting to see how things play out on Sunday at home with the Dallas Cowboys coming to town.
