2. Ron Rivera

Thanks to a 6-2 start last season, the Carolina Panthers appeared to be at least a lock for a Wild Card spot in the NFC playoff picture before it all fell apart during the final eight games.

Not only was it frustrating to watch the Panthers lose seven of their final eight games, but that lone win happened to come in Week 17 when the New Orleans Saints were resting all of their starters for the playoffs.

In other words, Carolina may as well ended up losing each of those final eight games of 2018, putting a ton of extra pressure on Ron Rivera this current season.

Between battling in a tough division in the NFC South along with Cam Newton dealing with a few injuries over the last few months, the Panthers face plenty of challenges with the start of the 2019 season officially underway.

While the argument can be made that Carolina deserves some credit for battling back against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, and almost pull off the unexpected victory, the final results don’t change anything in the loss column.

With a shorter week playing on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rivera should be able to get the Panthers back on track with their first win of 2019, although nothing seems guaranteed these days when it comes to the NFL.
