Draft Spotlight

Every week, I’ll dissect a college football player who recently grabbed the spotlight and what his future holds in the NFL. This week, I’ll be looking at possibly the best defensive back in college football.

Who: Grant Delpit, Safety, LSU

What Works

  • Size (6-3, 200 pounds)
  • Speed
  • Versatility
  • Strength
  • Tackling
  • Instincts
  • Anticipation
  • Blitzing

What Needs Work

  • Little more consistency
  • Can be over-aggressive

Outlook: Maybe too easy of a prospect to start with just because he’s that good.

The Scout’s Opinion

"With experience at every position on the back-end and even some time spent in the box as an extra linebacker, Delpit has supreme value across the board at many spots. Because of his athleticism, knowledge, and recognition skills, he’s able to fulfill many spots along the defense. A key asset to his game, which doesn’t suffer any types of drop off despite being in new areas on a snap-to-snap basis. Has experience at free and strong safety, as well as a nickel/overhang player. – Jordan Reid, The Draft Network"
