NFL Week 2, 2019: 20 Bold predictions to consider
By Dan Parzych
17. Flacco finishes with four turnovers
After learning the hard way that Case Keenum was far from the answer under center, the Denver Broncos decided to acquire Joe Flacco from the Baltimore Ravens since the team was set on moving forward with Lamar Jackson.
Over the years, one of the biggest debates in the NFL has been whether Flacco deserves to be part of the elite category, even after helping the Ravens win a Super Bowl many years ago.
Time will tell when it comes to determining whether the Broncos made the right choice rolling with Flacco for at least the 2019 season, but Denver certainly would have preferred to see a better start when taking on the Oakland Raiders.
The fact that Flacco and the Broncos didn’t score their first touchdown of the game until the final few minutes of regulation shows how much the offense struggled for the most part in this loss to the Raiders.
And as much as Denver wants to feel confident about their home opener against the Chicago Bears, Flacco could be in for a rude awakening from Matt Nagy’s defense.
When taking into consideration how frustrating it was for the Bears to lose to the Green Bay Packers in the first game of 2019 in front of a national audience, one can only imagine the high level of motivation the defense is going to be playing with in this one.
If Chicago managed to hold Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay’s offense to scoring just 10 points, imagine what kind of day the unit could have on Flacco.
