Fantasy Football 2019: 10 Sleepers to start in Week 2
In the wake of a wild Week 1 in fantasy football, these 10 sleepers should be in your lineup in Week 2 if you want a chance to win.
One week down, 16 more to go. For those of you who started off the fantasy football season with a win, congrats! Time to start a winning streak.
For those of you who lost, it’s time to get back on the horse with your first win. However, you might not be able to do that without making some moves. A fantasy football roster doesn’t improve if you don’t put in the work.
Subsequently, here are a few players I’ll be keeping an eye on in Week 2, sleepers that could dramatically improve your lineup, leading off with a quarterback whom many scouts thought should play running back in the pros.
10. Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens (Week 2: vs. Cardinals)
After dismantling the Miami Dolphins for 324 yards and five touchdowns in a 59-10 opening win, the Ravens’ second-year signal-caller, Lamar Jackson, looks to continue his strong start in the team’s first home game against the visiting Arizona Cardinals. Despite setting an NFL record for quarterback rushing attempts last season, Jackson only ran the ball three times in Week 1. Look for that trend to possibly continue as he grows more comfortable from the pocket.
The Cardinals defense is one of the weakest in the NFL, especially in the secondary. They are currently missing All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson due to a suspension and, outside of a strong pass rush, there isn’t much to write home about. As long as Jackson’s offensive line can keep him upright, he could have another 300+ yard, multi-touchdown performance in Week 2.
9. Derek Carr, QB, Oakland Raiders (Week 2: vs. Chiefs)
Yes, I know about the whole Antonio Brown debacle. I also know that Derek Carr ultimately doesn’t have a lot of weapons. However, there is still plenty to like about this matchup against the Chiefs. Despite adding pieces such as defensive end Frank Clark and safety Tyrann Mathieu this offseason, there are still a ton of questions around the Kansas City defense. Their flaws are ripe to be exposed by Carr.
With rookie running back Josh Jacobs and new No. 1 wideout Tyrell Williams, Carr could have a big performance in the Black Hole, particularly coming off of a strong opening week in the win over Denver. Luckily, the Chiefs defense is still in flux. That should lead to a big game for the veteran quarterback.
