New York Jets: 3 Vital statistics for 2019 season
14
In 2009 and 2010 under exuberant head coach Rex Ryan, the New York Jets managed to reach the AFC title game. That first year, the club eventually succumbed to the Colts at Indianapolis. And one season later, the Green and White came up short at Pittsburgh.
So what has gone wrong for this franchise as of late? This was a club that not long ago showed lots of promise. Head coach Todd Bowles’ first season as head coach came in 2015. That year, the Jets came up short of the playoffs despite a 10-6 record. But it’s been all downhill since for any number of reasons.
Be it a horrendous year by quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2016 to an overall deterioration of talent when he came to the franchise. After posting the aforementioned 10 wins in 2015, Gang Green is now a combined 14-35 in its last 49 outings dating back to 2016. That includes this season’s Week 1 home loss to the Buffalo Bills.
The Jets are back home on Monday night against the Cleveland Browns. It’s a team that new defensive coordinator Gregg Williams knows a bit, to say the least. So will the club get Adam Gase his first win as the franchise’s newest sideline leader? They will have to do it without quarterback Sam Darnold, who is out this week and possibly a bit longer.
