2020 NFL Mock Draft: Dolphins rebuild starts with Tua Tagovailoa
Outside of a now locked-up Grady Jarrett, the Atlanta Falcons defensive front is quite unimpressive. Takk McKinley hasn’t developed fully at the rate they’d hoped and it’s average veterans or project players beyond that. That leaves a hole for Derrick Brown out of Auburn to fill. It was a surprise he returned to school for another year, but doing so cements him as a pick in the top half of the first round in this 2020 NFL Mock Draft.
Despite a Week 1 performance with two pick-sixes, the San Francisco 49ers need to upgrade their secondary if they’re going to compete in a meaningful way. Bryce Hall of the Virginia Cavaliers can help the cause. He’s an elite cover corner with deceptive speed and terrific instincts to go with an alpha demeanor on the outside. Hall would give the Niners a real shot in the arm in the secondary.
Terry McLaurin looks like he has the goods after one NFL game but that doesn’t mean the Washington Redskins receiving corps inspires a lot of confidence right now. They need more help and they look to this strong wide receiver class to get it, namely with CeeDee Lamb from Oklahoma. A big-bodied, contested catch player, Lamb can be a playmaker right away at the next level.
Pick via Texans
With the pick that the Dolphins got from the Houston Texans in the Laremy Tunsil trade, Miami doesn’t necessarily make the sexy pick, but they make the right one. With Tunsil gone, the Dolphins offensive line is an absolute train wreck. They shore up the interior here with Tyler Biadasz, who is a plug-and-play starter for any line but especially in Miami where he’ll help protect the investment in Tua Tagovailoa.
