2020 NFL Mock Draft: Dolphins rebuild starts with Tua Tagovailoa
Isaiah Simmons is one of the most fascinating cases to place in any 2020 NFL Mock Draft. It’s clear he’s an NFL player with his highlight plays and athletic tools. However, he’s not a pure safety but not entirely built like a linebacker. He lands with the Philadelphia Eagles here, though, a team that should be able to find a role for a versatile playmaker, someone who can potentially answer big needs for them.
In truth, there aren’t many glaring needs on the Baltimore Ravens roster. Subsequently, there are a lot of different directions to look here. We go with adding depth at cornerback, though, which means taking Trevon Diggs. Coming off a knee injury in 2018, the film on Diggs — brother of Stefon Diggs — shows a fantastic, long athlete with all the tools to be effective in an NFL secondary.
For how great the Kansas City Chiefs are on offense, they are every bit as bad in the secondary. That’s something that must be addressed and Jaylon Johnson out of Utah is a player that can do that. Johnson isn’t great in terms of his quickness and defending in tight spaces, but his length and overall technique are that worthy of a first-round pick to address a need at the position.
Even with Rob Gronkowski retiring, the New England Patriots are not remotely short of weapons. At the same time, Tom Brady and this offense are at their best with a playmaker at tight end and Brycen Hopkins has that potential. He’s more Evan Engram than Gronk right now as a thin-framed and long athlete but he’s also raw and could develop and add muscle to become a more complete player.

As evidenced by the players still on the board after this 2020 NFL Mock Draft, the upcoming draft class is exceptionally deep. There will be plenty of day-one starters that join their teams on the second day of the festivities. But as far as the first 32 selections go, this is an early-season look at how things could shake out.
