Minnesota Vikings: 3 Standouts vs. Packers in Week 2
Following the Minnesota Vikings loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 2 of the regular season, here are three Vikings standouts from the defeat.
After kicking off the 2019 NFL regular season on a high note in the season opener last week against the Atlanta Falcons, the Minnesota Vikings followed that dominating performance with somewhat of a disappointing showing in Week 2 on the road.
In the first road game of the year for the Vikings, Minnesota traveled to face bitter rivals and fellow NFC North opponent Green Bay Packers in a tough road environment that is Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
The Vikings followed their Week 1 victory up with a loss at the hands of the Packers, falling 21-16 on the road to tally the first loss of the season for Minnesota.
From the start of the game, Green Bay took a lead in the divisional showdown and didn’t look back the rest of the way. The Packers jumped out to a 21-point lead early on in the contest and didn’t let up the lead to come away with the victory.
Minnesota was able to bounce back and nearly complete a comeback, tallying 16 points to get within five, but the Vikings weren’t ultimately able to overcome the early deficit in order to steal the game on the road.
With the loss, the Vikings drop to 1-1 overall on the season and drop into third place in the NFC North behind Green Bay and Detroit. Minnesota will look to bounce back when it welcomes the Oakland Raiders into US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis during Week 3 of the regular season at noon next Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Packers improved to a perfect 2-0 to open up the year and hold a lead of the division ahead of the Lions, Vikings and Bears. Green Bay will remain at home next week in Week 3 of the regular season when it hosts the Denver Broncos at noon on Sunday in Green Bay.
Following the Vikings loss to the Packers in the second week of the regular season, let’s take a look at three standouts from Minnesota’s loss on Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field.
