New England Patriots: 3 Standouts vs. Dolphins in Week 2
1. Antonio Brown
The final standout player for the New England Patriots in the Week 2 win in their first road game of the 2019 regular season was the newcomer and newly-signed Pro Bowl wide receiver Antonio Brown.
Brown, who was announced late this week as a player that would officially be active in the game and would make his season debut both in general and with his new squad, led the passing game against the Dolphins on the road this week while hauling in four catches on eight total targets to finish with 56 yards and one touchdown.
Adding another dominant piece to this Patriots offense, Brown helped lead the New England wide receiving group to finish with a total of 264 yards in the game. Seven different Patriots wide receivers concluded the contest with at least two catches and at least 19 yards receiving.
Entering his 10th season in the league in 2019, with all nine previous years occurring as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Brown is coming off of a season in 2018 where he appeared in 15 of the 16 games while totaling the highest amount of receiving touchdowns of her career.
In 15 games, Brown recorded 104 receptions on a total of 168 overall targets to finish the year with 1,297 receiving yards and a career-high 15 touchdowns. With a catch percentage of 61.9 percent, Brown averaged 86.5 yards per game as a wideout for Pittsburgh.
This Patriots offensive unit was already a scary and potent offense while being led by Tom Brady behind center. On Sunday against Miami, we got the first look as to how New England will be able to take that up yet another notch with the addition and incorporation of Brown into the mix of all of that.
Brown was just one of the bright spots displayed by the Patriots in the win over the Dolphins, and it will be interesting to see how he can held New England continue to take the next step throughout the course of the regular season.
