Despite the loss of Ben Roethlisberger for the rest of the 2019 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers should still be viewed as Super Bowl 54 contenders.

To say Week 2 of the NFL 2019 season was filled with numerous key injuries would be a huge understatement, and unfortunately for the Pittsburgh Steelers, it looks like Ben Roethlisberger just became one of the latest victims.

After leaving Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks with an elbow injury, it was revealed on Monday that Roethlisberger would now miss the remainder of the season, putting a ton of extra pressure on the Steelers moving forward.

Between their embarrassing loss to the New England Patriots opening weekend along with coming up short Sunday when facing the Seahawks at home, 2019 was already off to a rough start for Pittsburgh.

Now that Roethlisberger is out for the year, and the team will be forced to rely on Mason Rudolph moving forward, there will be even more pressure on the Steelers moving forward when it comes to still showing they can continue being a top contender in the AFC.

While the thought of discussing the chances of Pittsburgh making a run at Super Bowl 54 with the team sitting at 0-2 on top of the Roethlisberger news may sound crazy to even consider at this point, it really isn’t all that ridiculous.

In fact, instead of sitting around feeling sorry for themselves, the Steelers should focus on how this team can still make a run at Super Bowl LIV, and shock the rest of the NFL world by overcoming the long odds.

Crazy or not, it never hurts to discuss the possibility, so here are three reasons to back up the belief that Pittsburgh could still pull this off, despite the loss of Roethlisberger.
