The Cleveland Browns look for redemption as they take on an injury riddled New York Jets team on the road. Bold predictions for Monday Night Football.

To say that things could’ve gone better for the Cleveland Browns season-opener in 2019 would be putting it nicely. Baker Mayfield and the new-look Browns entered the new campaign with immense buzz, expectations and hope. And after 60 minutes of sloppy play that resulted in a 30-point loss, that all came crashing down. They now look for redemption on Monday Night Football in Week 2 against the New York Jets.

Of course, things didn’t exactly go as planned for the Jets in Week 1 either. Adam Gase’s team was firmly in control against the Bills for the first half. Then the wheels came off. The offense became hapless, the defense couldn’t buy a stop and the ultimate result was a 17-16 loss to Buffalo to begin the 2019 season.

Redemption is going to be much harder to come by for the Jets than the Browns, though. Sam Darnold is out on Monday Night Football with mono, putting former Bronco Trevor Siemian into the starting quarterback role for the Jets. Furthermore, two prized defensive additions in linebacker C.J. Mosley and first-round pick Quinnen Williams have already been ruled out for this game.

Even still, the Browns have a lot to prove after how poorly they performed in Week 1. With the additions of Odell Beckham Jr. and Olivier Vernon to the roster this offseason, the talent in Cleveland is wholly undeniably. However, if this team doesn’t cut down on penalties, mature quickly under pressure and fix the holes on the offensive line, they’re not going to realize their potential.

Playing against a short-handed Jets team is a great chance for the Browns to right the ship, though, even if they’re on the road. And that’s what they’ll try to do — but will they? Let’s make five bold predictions for this primetime matchup to end Week 2 between the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets.
