1. Chubb goes off for 200+ yards
One of the big breakout stars for the Cleveland Browns entering this season was slated to be running back Nick Chubb. He was a monster when he was finally given the starting job at the end of 2018 and the belief was that would continue in the 2019 season. In the disastrous season-opener, though, Chubb was nothing more than fine.
The Georgia product finished the day with 17 carries for 75 yards to go with three receptions for just 10 yards. It’s important to note that Chubb’s role decreased late in the game as the Browns fell further behind to the Titans. Even still, fans were hoping for a superstar-type showing from the second-year running back and that wasn’t what was delivered in Week 1.
Against this Jets team, though, this could be a monster day for Chubb. While the concerns about the Browns offensive line certainly aren’t going away, it’s hard to look at the Jets defense without C.J. Mosley and Quinnen Williams and figure out who’s going to stop a rushing attack or the times when Chubb gets the ball in the flats as part of the passing game.
Cleveland should be able to double-team Leonard Williams for much of the game, which neutralizes the biggest threat to stop Chubb. As a result, the running back will live up to the preseason hype on Monday Night Football and deliver a performance worthy of primetime, finishing the game with 200 total yards and absolutely gashing the Gang Green defense.
