The Green Bay Packers defeated the Minnesota Vikings by a final score of 21-16 on Sunday. Here are five standout players from the Packers’ victory.

The Green Bay Packers held on to defeat the Minnesota Vikings by a final score of 21-16 at Lambeau Field in their 2019 home opener on Sunday. The Packers start 2-0 for the first time since 2015, with two strong wins against divisional opponents.

It was a fast start for Aaron Rodgers and head coach/play caller Matt LaFleur, as the offense rattled off three straight touchdown drives to open the game. Green Bay struggled on offense for the final three quarters, but the first quarter was a sign of what the Packers offense can be when operating at full capacity.

Running back Aaron Jones had a career-day, as it became clear as the game wore on that LaFleur always wanted to feed him over 20 carries. Backup running back Jamaal Williams also got in on the action, as both runners scored a touchdown.

On the defensive side of the ball, the performance from Green Bay’s secondary was the biggest talking point exiting the game. Cornerback Jaire Alexander was lock-down the whole game, rookie safety Darnell Savage forced a fumble on Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins, and cornerback Kevin King sealed the win with an interception in the endzone late in the fourth quarter.

Overall, the end result was the definition of a team win. The Packers were solid in all three phases of the game. The offense was clicking in the first quarter. The defense did just enough to contain Cousins and the passing game late. And punter J.K. Scott did a masterful job of flipping the field whenever his number was called.

Up next, the Packers host the 0-2 Denver Broncos at Lambeau Field next Sunday. But in the meantime, who were the biggest performers for Green Bay in Week 2 against Minnesota? Here are five standouts from the Packers’ win.
