NFL Power Rankings, Week 3: Cowboys, Ravens silence critics, Saints lose Brees

23. Washington Redskins (18)
So last week, offensive tackle Morgan Moses said it was a “slap in the face” to have Adrian Peterson a healthy scratch. The thought process there made sense as the Washington Redskins were unable to hold onto a lead over divisional rival Philadelphia. Starting running back Derrius Guice managed just 18 yards on 10 carries but then suffered a knee injury and they were without an every-down back.
This week, Peterson was active and starting for the injured Guice but didn’t do much more than the previous starter did. AP did score a touchdown, which moved him to fifth all-time and gave his team an early 7-0 lead, but overall had just 25 yards on 10 carries.
During the broadcast, it was reported that Peterson’s north-south style of running didn’t fit head coach Jay Gruden’s offense, but after seeing both him and Guice struggle maybe the play-calling is the problem — especially when you consider Peterson had more than 1,000-yards last season.
Whatever it is, Washington was beaten rather easily at home as the Dallas Cowboys ran all over them after giving up the touchdown early in the second. Now at 0-2, the Redskins are at the bottom of the NFC East standings with a lot to try and figure out. If there’s any good news thought, Terry McLaurin sure looks like the real deal at wide receiver.
