NFL Power Rankings, Week 3: Cowboys, Ravens silence critics, Saints lose Brees
By Randy Gurzi
19. Pittsburgh Steelers (16)
Heading into this game, the Pittsburgh Steelers were apparently aware that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was dealing with some discomfort in his elbow. It was a problem throughout the week of practice and it crept up in the game as he was forced out and is set for an MRI to see the extent of the damage.
With him out, the Steelers turned to Mason Rudolph, who played well as he managed 112 yards and two touchdowns. He did have an interception but was able to keep them in the game against the Seattle Seahawks. They pulled within two but a failed two-point conversion ended up leaving them just short as they fell to 0-2 thanks to a 28-26 score.
For Pittsburgh, this has to be a frustrating start. They felt as though they would be better this season with Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell both elsewhere after a couple of seasons full of drama. Instead, their offense has been inconsistent with free-agent additions such as Donte Moncrief doing nothing at all to help them out.
They’re now in last place in their division while watching the Ravens race off to a 2-0 start. Not exactly what they were hoping for, but there’s a lot of football left to be played.
