NFL Power Rankings, Week 3: Cowboys, Ravens silence critics, Saints lose Brees

12. Philadelphia Eagles (4)
You have to feel for the Philadelphia Eagles. They entered this game 1-0 and were favored to get the win over the Atlanta Falcons, who were a complete mess in Week 1. That wasn’t the case here as the Falcons were much better on Sunday Night Football, but the Eagles were also dealt a rough hand.
It seemed as though every snap led to another injury as they lost Alshon Jeffery and then DeSean Jackson went down as well. Without their hero from Week 1, they had to turn to Nelson Agholor as the top receiver, and he was solid with 107 yards on eight catches.
For Philly, Agholor seemed to be alone in making huge plays. And in staying healthy. Carson Wentz was favoring his chest at one point and then missed nearly a whole series as he was being evaluated for a concussion. Later, Zach Ertz was shaken up as was left tackle Jason Peters.
Even with all these players dropping like flies, the Eagles made it a game. They took the lead late but then surrendered a long touchdown to Julio Jones. They had a final shot but they ran out of opportunities as Ertz came up just short on a fourth-down play. They’re still a good team but this battle between the birds has become a real battle and they always play one another close.
