6. Green Bay Packers (10)

Last week, the Green Bay Packers were able to win despite scoring just 10 points in a defensive battle with the Chicago Bears to kick off the NFL’s 100th season. Head coach Matt LaFleur wasn’t thrilled with that performance and said that the team would get more points on the board moving forward.

They did that in Week 2 as they jumped out to a 21-0 lead over the Minnesota Vikings in the first half. After two Aaron Rodgers touchdown runs in the first quarter, they scored again on an Aaron Jones run early in the third. Then, they did nothing else.

Green Bay was held in check by the Minnesota defense after that and they were able to score 16 unanswered. The Vikings were even in range to go ahead late in the game, but the defense stepped up and picked off a Kirk Cousins pass in the end zone, essentially sealing the win and a 2-0 start to the 2019 campaign.

While the head coach, who has an extensive offensive background, will surely be frustrated by their inability to score following their early output, he has to be happy about this defense. For the second week in a row, that side played extremely well and led the Pack to a win. That’s not the norm, but after making several moves this offseason to upgrade that side of the ball, things seem to be looking good for Mike Pettine’s unit.
