The Philadelphia Eagles came up short on a potential game-winning drive against the Falcons in Week 2. These were the best and worst for Philly.

After needing a comeback in Week 1 to secure a victory, the Philadelphia Eagles needed the same on the road for Sunday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2. They were trailing 10-6 at halftime and fell behind 17-6 early in the second half. However, they were able to claw their way back into it and actually held a 20-17 lead late in the game.

Unfortunately, the game didn’t end there for the Eagles. Seeing that Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz was bringing the heat with Brandon Graham, Derek Barnett and the Philadelphia linebackers, Matt Ryan called a quick screen to Julio Jones on a fourth-down play that the superstar receiver took 54 yards to the house to go up 24-20.

Carson Wentz and the Eagles actually got one more chance to try and win the matchup on Sunday night, though. And to be fair, they almost did so. Wentz had Nelson Agholor wide-open down the sideline and threw a perfect ball to his wide receiver — only the pass-catcher didn’t do his job and haul in the reception.

Even after that, Philly’s offense still drove into the red zone but came up just shy of the first-down marker on the biggest fourth down of the game, thus giving the ball back to the Falcons and ending the game with a 24-20 loss for the Eagles.

It was an undeniably uneven showing for the Eagles in Week 2 as they dropped to 1-1 on the season. There were moments of brilliance, moments of ineptitude and some things in the box score that don’t tell the whole story of what transpired in Atlanta on Sunday Night Football.

With that in mind, let’s get the whole picture by looking at the studs and duds for the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2 against the Falcons.
