2019 NFL picks, score predictions for Week 3
Detroit Lions (1-0-1) at Philadelphia Eagles (1-1)
Sunday, September 22, 1PM ET
Had you asked me two weeks ago, I would have told you the Philadelphia Eagles were going to wipe the floor with the Detroit Lions. However, after two weeks of play, I’m thinking these two clubs are more evenly matched than most would have assumed.
Through two games, the Eagles have looked largely beatable. They nearly choked away their opening-week battle with the Washington Redskins, and then took a tumble against the Falcons on Sunday night. The passing game hasn’t been as explosive as we thought, and the defense hasn’t been as opportunistic as in previous seasons.
Meanwhile, the Lions have been somewhat of a surprise. They’re technically undefeated, having tied the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1 before winning in an underdog role against the Los Angeles Chargers. Although it’s still too early in the season to tell, it looks like Detroit might just be a team worth taking seriously in 2019.
In fact, I believe they’ll prove just that in Week 3. In another tug-of-war type game, the Lions go blow for blow with the Eagles before a late-game surge puts them ahead for good. Matthew Stafford connects with Kenny Golladay for a big touchdown to keep them out of the loss column for now.
Prediction: Lions win 31-28
