RB. Terrell Davis. . player. 45. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 1995-01

In the late 1990s, the Denver Broncos were able to win back-to-back Super Bowls which came during the final two seasons of John Elway’s career. While the franchise leading quarterback is still remembered for riding off into the sunset a winner, he never would have been able to pull that off had it not been for the remarkable play of Terrell Davis.

A Pro Football Hall of Fame running back, Davis dominated both postseasons that saw the Broncos win it all. On his bio page for the Hall, they discuss the amazing stretch he had in their first title.

"“He opened the 1997 playoffs with a 184-yard effort against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Wild Card Game followed by 101 yards versus the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional playoff and 139 yards rushing yards in the win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game. He then earned MVP honors in Super Bowl XXXII after rushing for 157 yards and three TDs in the Broncos’ 31-24 victory over the Green Bay Packers. Davis also scored an incredible 8 rushing touchdowns in that ’97 playoff run.” — Davis’ Pro Football Hall of Fame bio page"

Davis continued to dominate the following year and set a franchise playoff record of 199 yards against the Miami Dolphins the following season. He then had 167 yards in the AFC Championship game and another 102 in their Super Bowl win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Injuries derailed his career following that 1998 NFL season — which saw him go for 2,008 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground — but Davis still was easily the best to ever line up as a running back in the Mile High City. In all reality, his four-year stretch from 1995 through 1998 could hold up against any back in the history of the league.
