Scouting Report. RB. Marshall Faulk. . player. 51. Pick Analysis. 1999-05

When looking at the Indianapolis Colts’ best running back, it was mentioned that they had some big names to consider such as Marshall Faulk and Eric Dickerson. As fate would have it, those two running backs also played for the Los Angeles Rams organization ‚— with Faulk being one of the bigger stars during their days in St. Louis.

Faulk helped the Rams win a title and finished third overall in rushing yards with 6,959 — he was also No. 1 in touchdown runs with 58. He was second to Dickerson, who played five seasons there and had 7,245 yards and 56 touchdowns.

They also had a third potential winner in Steven Jackson who played nine seasons with the Rams and is No. 1 all time in yardage with 10,138. An absolute power-back, Jackson gets a lot of credit for his ability to plow through defenders, but he also was great as a receiver.

The Oregon State product had 90 receptions for 806 yards in 2006 and for his career, he had 407 catches for 3,324 yards and another eight touchdowns.

Even with all that being true, Faulk gets the nod here — although not by much, as Jackson was an absolute stud. Faulk was just too versatile to go with anyone else, as he had a total of 11,030 yards from scrimmage and 85 total touchdowns in his seven seasons.

Faulk, who is now a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, was named to five Pro Bowls during his run with St. Louis and scored 18 touchdowns on the ground and eight receiving in 2000.
