Running Backs

Christian McCaffrey, CAR (at ARI), $8,900 – The workload for McCaffrey could be massive with Kyle Allen starting. He’s the second-most expensive running back but his talent and upside in Week 3 still make him a viable option for your lineup.

Ezekiel Elliott, DAL (vs. MIA), $8,800 – In the same vein as Prescott, you worry that Ezekiel Elliott may not be on the field for four quarters. What you don’t worry about is how badly he could gash the Dolphins defense when he is on the field and likely getting closer to 100 percent in terms of game shape.

Dalvin Cook, MIN (vs. OAK), $8,300 – Cook has arguably been the best running back in fantasy in 2019, averaging 25.80 points in FanDuel through two weeks. Oakland’s defense isn’t scary and the Vikings are going to continue to be committed to running the football.

Austin Ekeler, LAC (vs. HOU), $7,600 – Speaking of best fantasy backs, Ekeler has been amazing in relief of Melvin Gordon, averaging 28.35 points per game. Houston’s defense can cause problems but the volume and variety of touches is so great, it’s hard not to still like the value of Ekeler.

Aaron Jones, GB (vs. DEN), $6,900 – Yes, Denver’s defense is good. However, Jones finally had a big game in Week 2 and is now in a game in which Green Bay could dominate. That means they could look to Jones to ice this one late and he has the talent to put up numbers in doing so.

Raheem Mostert and Matt Breida, SF (vs. PIT), $6,000 and $5,900 – This is a risky proposition because anyone’s guess is good for how the 49ers running back touches shake out. At the same time, though, they’ve all been productive and that should be the case against a very uninspiring Steelers D.

Latavius Murray, NO (at SEA), $5,600 – I’m fading Alvin Kamara this week with Teddy Bridgewater starting but perhaps a more bruising Murray can be a value play this week as I see more work than usual for him with a backup quarterback on the field.

Jalen Richard, OAK (at MIN), $5,100 – A flyer here but Josh Jacobs has been sick and losing weight all week. If he’s out or slowed down, Richard could have value, particularly with his ability to catch passes out of the backfield.

Darwin Thompson, KC (vs. BAL), $4,500 Damien Williams is out for the Chiefs, meaning they could put the rooking Thompson into the fold — especially if LeSean McCoy is also limited or out. He’s an explosive pass-catcher that could be a week-winner in your DFS lineup.
