4. Rodgers’ slow start continues

In years past, when the Green Bay Packers have been successful, it’s almost wholly been on the back of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The team has simply lived and died by him for far too long, not getting him nearly enough help around him. That has changed in the 2019 season, though, which is a good thing considering that the star quarterback has been quite average through the first two weeks of the year.

Over his first two outings in the 2019 campaign, Rodgers has a very pedestrian stat-line. The quarterback has gone just 40-of-64 for a meager 412 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He’s by no means been bad but he’s not been the superstar at the helm of the offense that many fans have grown accustomed to.

It would be quite enjoyable to see that change because, let’s face it, watching the best players in the NFL live up to that billing is always a good time. At the same time, I don’t think this matchup against Denver at Lambeau Field is going to yield those results simply because it won’t necessitate an otherworldly effort from Rodgers.

Rodgers won’t be overly pressured thanks to his stout offensive line but the Broncos have a good secondary still. Moreover, they should be able to run the ball successfully and, perhaps most importantly, shut down the Denver offense. Thus, Rodgers will have another fine day but nothing special, thus feeding the narrative that he’s off to a slow start.
