Green Bay Packers: 5 Bold predictions vs. Broncos, Week 3
2. Jones repeats 100-yard performance
Everyone that had been hoping for an Aaron Jones breakout year in 2019 seemed to be certain it was coming with the addition of head coach Matt LaFleur. In Week 1, though, the results were disappointing as he had just 13 rushes for 39 yards. Last week against Minnesota, however, Jones looked like the player many of us have been waiting to see.
Carrying the ball 23 times against the Vikings, Jones accrued 116 yards and a touchdown. The UTEP product also made an impact in the passing game with four receptions for 34 yards. Fantasy owners were happy, Packers fans were happy and Aaron Jones stans were ecstatic. However, the question is if it’s going to be sustainable moving forward.
Whether or not Jones is getting 23 carries per game remains to be seen. Against the Broncos, though, I’m a firm believer that he’s going to get a lot of work. The Packers defense should shut down Denver in a big way and, as Green Bay then looks to control the game, that should mean a ton of work for both Jones and Jamaal Williams.
With Jones being the clearly better running back in that duo, he’s going to produce once again. I could very well see another performance like his Week 2 showing against Minnesota as he’ll top 100 yards and likely find the end zone again as he helps the Packers ice the game late when they get up on the visiting Broncos.
