2020 NFL Mock Draft: Raiders strike gold with A.J. Epenesa, Giants nab Chase Young
If there are two spots on the Philadelphia Eagles defense where they could stand to upgrade moving forward, it’s at safety or linebacker. Isaiah Simmons out of Clemson is a prospect that could potentially help them in both areas. A hyper-athletic piece that can be moved all around the defense, Simmons is the type of player that Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz could have a great deal of fun deploying on a week-to-week basis.
The power rankings that determined this draft order were written prior to the Tennessee Titans laying a massive egg in Week 3, so they’ll likely have a higher pick than this. Even still, they get a player that can make the point that it’s time to move on from Marcus Mariota. The game has never come easy to Mariota but it does to Georgia’s Jake Fromm. He’s unspectacular, sure, but he has big-game moxie and enough tools to be a winning quarterback in the NFL.
I’m a big fan of Utah State quarterback Jordan Love entering this draft class. He’s a risky proposition to be sure but he checks all of the athletic boxes that I want to see and has put enough pro-level throws on film to this point that you have to be intrigued. Jacoby Brissett isn’t the long-term answer for the Indianapolis Colts, so they move on with this selection.
Alabama linebacker Dylan Moses is out for the 2019 season with a torn ACL. If he decides to enter the 2020 NFL Draft, though, a contender would be wise to take a risk on him. Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints are the exact type of team that would make that type of risky move and add a highly athletic and true alpha at linebacker in Moses.
