Chicago Bears vs. Washington Redskins: 5 Bold predictions for Week 3
The Chicago Bears look to find some life as they hit the road to face the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football. Bold predictions for the matchup.
You could make the argument that the Chicago Bears‘ 1-1 start to the 2019 NFL season feels a lot closer to 0-2 than 2-0, even if their loss was only by seven points. That’s something that head coach Matt Nagy and, perhaps more importantly, quarterback Mitchell Trubisky will need to remedy as they go on the road for Monday Night Football against the Washington Redskins in Week 3.
Trubisky has been the talk of the Bears to this point and not in any favorable manner. The third-year quarterback has struggled mightily to start the season. His limitations and ineptitude through two games has thus limited the offense, which has been in stark contrast to Khalil Mack and the defense, a group that looks primed to compete for a Super Bowl.
What’s interesting, though, is that Monday’s matchup with the Redskins could potentially offer signs of hope. As bad as Trubisky and the Bears offense has looked, they have faced two seemingly high-quality defenses in the Packers and Broncos. Meanwhile, Washington has given up at least 30 points in each of their first two outings en route to a winless 0-2 record.
Case Keenum and the Redskins offense have indeed flashed in their first two games but they are incredibly one-dimensional and the defense hasn’t backed them up. That likely doesn’t bode well for them against this fearsome Chicago defense that hasn’t lost a step even with the departure of Vic Fangio this offseason.
This game, though not a marquee matchup, is fascinating from the standpoint of what it could tell us about both of these teams moving forward. As such, let’s get a little crazy and make bold predictions for the Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins in Week 3.
