2020 NFL Draft: 7 Prospects with rising stock after college football Week 4
3. Antonio Gandy-Golden, WR, Liberty
Liberty is an FBS Independent school who had just seven players drafted into the NFL in their history. The last player was taken was Walt Atkins in 2014 by the MiamI Dolphins in the fourth round. Antonio Gandy-Golden will become player No. 5 as the highest Liberty draftee since Eric Green.
Gandy-Golden isn’t going in the first round (like Green), but if you put on his highlights, you’ll think he could go top 20. In 2018, Gandy-Golden finished the season with 1,037 yards and 10 touchdowns as junior. His ability to high-point passes is second to none.
Gandy-Golden utilizes his 6-4, 220-pound frame to his advantage. He doesn’t allow defenders to get into his body off the line. When the ball’s in the air, he boxes defenders out. After the catch he’s a powerful runner who doesn’t go down easily.
Because of his length and excellent hands, he gives quarterbacks a great catch radius. No, he’s not the greatest route runner but he has quick feet for his size. He’s a vertical threat who can track the ball. In the red zone he’s the perfect target because of his ability to post up.
So far in his senior season, Gandy-Golden has continued to impress and has averaged just over 18 yards per catch while notching a pair of touchdowns. He’s an ideal boundary receiver fit for a vertical offense. With his frame and leaping ability and catch radius, Gandy-Golden has earned the right to hear his name called on draft day.
