21. Carolina Panthers (22)

Cam Newton has had a hard time getting wins as of late for the Carolina Panthers and now finds himself sidelined following an 0-2 start to the season. A foot sprain is what’s bothering him now and there are already starting to be questions about his job status when he does get healthy again.

Part of that is his recent string of injuries which dates back to last season when he was dealing with a myriad of ailments that affected his ability to move the chains. Another part of that question comes from the play of Kyle Allen who lit up the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

Allen spent time at Texas A&M and Houston in college before joining the Panthers last season as an undrafted free agent. He worked his way into the No. 2 role and now has two starts under his belt — one in Week 17 last season and now in Week 3.

He played well to close out their 2018 campaign but was even better in this one. Allen finished with 261 yards and four touchdowns with no turnovers. The entire team seemed to respond to him as well, with this team looking vastly improved from what they showed on Thursday Night Football last week.

Of course, they did play a team without a win, so we need to wait before crowning Allen. That doesn’t mean he hasn’t been impressive though, because he really has.
