8. New Orleans Saints (9)

Last year, Sean Payton made a move to bring in Teddy Bridgewater as the backup quarterback to Drew Brees. It was a smart move by him as he knows his New Orleans Saints are a Super Bowl contending team and didn’t want to see the team miss a chance at the playoffs because of Brees missing a few games. Bridgewater surely isn’t the same caliber as Brees but he’s capable of putting points on the board and keeping them treading water for a few weeks if necessary.

That ended up being the exact position they found themselves in as Brees tore a ligament in his hand and had to have surgery. The estimated time missed will be one month, meaning Bridgewater should be under center for roughly four games.

So far, he’s 1-0 in that regard as the rumors of this team’s demise were greatly exaggerated. The backup quarterback didn’t light things up as he had just 177 yards passing but he threw two touchdowns and had no picks.

He did enough to keep the Seahawks guessing and got some help with a punt return for a touchdown and a fumble recovery for a score as well. This sets things up nicely for a matchup with the Dallas Cowboys next week in New Orleans on Sunday Night Football.
