Chicago Bears: Studs and duds from rejuvenating win vs. Washington
Stud: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix
One of the greatest pleasures for players is to perform well against their former team. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix played for Washington last season and showed them what they’re missing now. To be fair, Washington did make him an offer to stay but the lure of playing with his BFF Eddie Jackson and the elite Chicago Bears defense was too much to pass up.
On Washington’s first drive of the game, Clinton-Dix intercepted Keenum’s pass and took it back 37 yards for a touchdown. After the game, he was low-key about it, via the Chicago Tribune:
"“I was just following the quarterback’s eyes. And I made a play on the ball.”"
He wasn’t finished, though. On Washington’s first drive in the second half, he again intercepted Keenum and took the ball 59 yards. That’s 96 return yards on two picks. Not bad for a player many said struggled over the past couple of seasons.
Another thing that critics like to throw Clinton-Dix’s way is that he doesn’t tackle. Well, he had nine tackles against Washington and didn’t have a missed tackle.
Clinton-Dix fits well on this elite Chicago Bears defense. He’s always been a ball hawk and this defense is already filled with ball hawks. I felt it’d be fun to see him team up with Jackson and it sure was fun watching him play Monday night against Washington. I am looking forward to seeing what he and the rest of the defense have up their sleeves for the rest of the season.
