2. Trent Williams, Washington Redskins

This is most certainly the pie-in-the-sky trade that has been talked about plenty already. Washington Redskins offensive tackle Trent Williams is continuing to hold out from the team, as he did throughout the offseason and preseason. This isn’t just about money, either, as he’s reportedly simply fed up with the organization and how they deal with their players.

Despite the holdout, the Redskins have remained steadfast that they aren’t going to trade Williams. And yet, Washington is currently sitting in a position where they are 0-3 and don’t really seem like they have much upside in the 2019 season, even if they have some bright spots for the future. So then, why not cash in on the value of trading Williams to try and get assets that will help towards building that future in Washington?

You could certainly make the argument that, if the Browns were going to trade for Williams than they would’ve already done so. And while that may be true, the fact of the matter is that Cleveland’s situation on the offensive line is currently dire. They can’t operate at full effectiveness with the pressure that’s been getting to Mayfield or if Nick Chubb doesn’t have consistent running lanes.

Though it may take him some time to get in game shape and/or get acclimated to the Cleveland playbook, the Browns would undeniably benefit from adding Williams to the roster. When on the field, he’s one of the best players at his position in the league. If there’s a deal to be done within a reasonable price range, Dorsey needs to keep exploring that option.
