Green Bay Packers: 5 Players that must shine vs. Eagles in Week 4
4. Davante Adams, WR
It’s been an inauspicious start to the 2019 season for the Green Bay Packers offense, despite their 3-0 record to begin the year. Aaron Rodgers has been pedestrian and, while the run game has been relatively effective, they’ve also been inconsistent. But in regards to the passing game, there hasn’t been much to speak of, especially when you look at a top-tier wide receiver like Davante Adams.
To be clear, Adams is leading the way for Packers pass-catchers to begin the 2019 season, catching 15 of his 21 targets for 198 yards, all of which either lead the team or tie for the team lead. However, the Fresno State product still has not found the end zone this season as there have only been four receiving touchdowns on the year as a whole.
While that may be true through three weeks, things could change in Week 4. The Eagles secondary was a bit of a concern coming into this year and things have only gotten worse with Ronald Darby being banged up and already ruled out for this Thursday Night Football matchup. That leaves Adams with a highly favorable matchup and he needs to show up.
Part of this certainly means that Rodgers needs to be more aggressive and simply be better but it also means that Adams needs to take advantage of what’s before him. He’s a matchup nightmare for any defense but against players that are either a tier or several tiers below his talent level, Adams needs a monster game on Thursday.
