After the first three weeks of the 2019 NFL season, only eight teams haven’t suffered a loss. But when will each of these teams first taste defeat?

While there are always things that you can’t predict in an NFL season, especially early on in the year, there are also things that everyone could see coming. That’s a blanket statement that holds true in many ways but particularly as it pertains to the eight teams that are undefeated entering Week 4 of the 2019 NFL season.

After three games, the San Francisco 49ers, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams have a pristine 3-0 record. Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions are also unbeaten with two wins and a tie on their ledger to begin the year. Some of those teams certainly fit the bill for a hot start while others a bit of a shock.

Regardless of whether or not these early starts to the 2019 NFL season are surprising, it does seem that there is no perfect team in the league this season. It’s highly unlikely that any of them go 16-0 on the year. They are all eventually going to lose — but when? With the Chiefs vs. Lions and Bills vs. Patriots on the Week 4 docket, at least two are going to lose sooner rather than later.

Let’s take a look at the eight undefeated NFL teams after three weeks and make predictions for when they will all suffer their first law of the season.

Detroit Lions (2-0-1)

Weeks 1-3: at Cardinals (27-27), vs. Chargers (13-10), at Eagles (27-24)

Considering that the Lions tied in Week 1 against an Arizona Cardinals team that’s winless through three weeks and featured a rookie quarterback in his first start, it’s a bit surprising that they’re in this position. After all, they had to beat the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles, two potential Super Bowl contenders to get to this point.

Having said that, Detroit has looked impressive. Matthew Stafford has been quite good to start the year, which is good with Kerryon Johnson averaging 2.6 yards per carry to begin the 2019 NFL season. More importantly, though, Matt Patricia’s defense has stepped up.

But at the same time, the Lions may have just fallen into some good fortune to begin the year. The Chargers defense and offensive line are both short-handed and the Eagles have been dealing with a litany of injuries at well. As such, those two victories might not be as surprising as you might think.

In Week 4, the Lions will welcome the Chiefs to town. Put simply, it’s hard to see them keeping pace with Andy Reid‘s team with how dominant they look. Stafford may find success but Kansas City’s offense is just too potent to expect a still-lacking Detroit defense to slow them down enough.
