The Jacksonville Jaguars and phenomenon Gardner Minshew head west to play the Denver Broncos on Sunday in Week 4.
Gardner Minshew leads the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road in Week 3 in search of their second consecutive victory. Their opponent, the Denver Broncos, are looking for their first win of the young 2019 season. Expect Minshew Mania to sweep into the Mile High City.
The Jaguars offense is looking to get the running game going in Denver. Denver is the ninth-ranked NFL team in total defense. Jacksonville will have to emphasize the passing attack to open up the running game.
Through three games, Minshew has completed 73.9 percent of his passes. His quarterback rating is 110.6. The offensive line must protect Minshew in order to move the chains. Minshew has thrown the ball to several players. He and D.J. Chark seem to be developing chemistry that could work for the benefit of the other receivers. If Denver tries to double cover Chark, Minshew still has Dede Westbrook or Chris Conley as receiving targets.
The Jaguars must stretch the secondary vertically. This vertical stretch would open up crossing routes across the middle. Hopefully, rookie tight end Josh Oliver plays and exploits the Broncos secondary with crossing routes.
Sacksonville seems to have returned in a big way. The Jaguars offense will have to take advantage of turnovers by scoring touchdowns. Josh Lambo is very accurate with his field goals but scoring touchdowns will put the game away faster.
Minshew must finish his drives with touchdowns. Will the Jaguars put half a hundred on the scoreboard? It’s unlikely but the Broncos play historically well in Denver. Minshew can not take his foot off the gas pedal until victory formation in the closing seconds.
Minshew mania spreads into Denver with great fanfare. He will succeed with smart decisions. He seems to prefer running downfield instead of forcing the ball into a tight window. Jacksonville can pick up their first road victory by playing each play. Things are looking well for another Jaguars victory.
